This page explains how Amazing News Media produces its journalism. These standards apply to every story we publish.
Sourcing
- Every news story is based on at least two credible, independent sources. Credible sources include official statements and records, court and agency documents, data from recognized institutions, and established news organizations.
- We do not publish claims we cannot attribute. Facts are attributed to their source in the text, and sources are linked wherever possible.
- We prefer primary sources, such as the original filing, report or statement, over summaries of them.
- We do not use anonymous sources of our own. When another outlet relies on anonymous sourcing, we say so.
Original writing and attribution
Our stories are original summaries written in our own words. We do not copy other publications’ text. When we rely on another outlet’s reporting, we credit and link to it.
Quotes
We use quotation marks only for words that appear verbatim in a cited source, and we link or name that source. We do not invent, alter or composite quotes.
Fact-checking
Before publication, an editor checks names, titles, dates, figures, places and quotes against the cited sources, and confirms that the headline and summary are supported by the story.
Headlines
Headlines must accurately reflect the story. We do not use misleading or sensational headlines, and we write our own rather than copying another outlet’s.
Dates and updates
Every story shows its publication date. When a developing story changes in a meaningful way, we update it and note the update at the top or bottom of the story.
Corrections
We correct errors of fact promptly and transparently. See our Corrections Policy.
News, opinion and sponsored content
- News reports what happened, attributed to sources, without the writer’s opinion.
- Opinion pieces, if we publish them, are labeled “Opinion” and published in a separate section.
- Sponsored or partner content is always labeled and never presented as news. Commercial links are marked rel=”sponsored”. See our Advertising and Sponsored Content Policy.
- Press releases, if published, are labeled “Press Release” and are not edited as news.
Bylines and editorial responsibility
Stories are published under the byline of our Editor-in-Chief, Grant Whitfield, who edits and approves every story and is accountable for it. Contributed articles, if we publish them, carry the contributor’s own byline and a short bio, and are edited to the same standards.
Use of AI
AI tools may help with research, summarizing source material and drafting. AI does not decide what we publish, does not invent facts or quotes, and is not a source. A human editor reviews, edits and approves every story. Article images are licensed photographs, not AI-generated. Details are in our AI Content Disclosure.
Archiving and record keeping
After a story is published, we submit it to the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine so an independent, dated copy of the original version exists. When we make a substantial update or correction, we archive the revised version as well. These archive copies help readers see what we published and when; they are a record, not a substitute for our Corrections Policy.
Images
We use photographs that are licensed for reuse, such as public domain and Creative Commons images, and credit the photographer, source and license under each image.
Independence and conflicts of interest
Advertisers, sponsors and partners have no influence over news coverage. If a story involves a party we have a commercial relationship with, we disclose it.
